Beginning May 5, 2025 , the Marfa & Presidio County Museum will present “Mexican Fiestas,” a traveling exhibition by Humanities Texas created in collaboration with Houston photographer Geoff Winningham.
The exhibition opening will be a community Cinco de Mayo celebration with music, food and drink from 6 – 8 pm at the Marfa & Presidio County Museum located at 110 W San Antonio in Marfa.
Featuring striking images by Winningham, the exhibition presents a vivid chronicle of the historic and diverse traditions of Mexican festivals—deeply rooted expressions of the country’s religious and cultural heritage. Beginning with his first trip to the state of Michoacán for Dia de los Muertos, Winningham’s work spans decades, documenting a wide array of festive traditions in villages throughout Mexico, highlighting how these celebrations unite communities through centuries-old traditions of art, music, dance and worship.
The exhibition will be available to the public from May 5 to June 15. For more information about viewing hours or to arrange group visits, contact the museum at info@marfamuseum.org.
